The company will forge on with restoration plans for the structure, a new website and logo, marketing, and interpretational programming.

Edgewood Cemetery: Pottstown, Pennsylvania

This small 27-acre cemetery is located at a prominent intersection of this southeast Pennsylvania community of the outer metro area of Philadelphia. Edgewood Cemetery was established in 1861 during the Rural Cemetery movement in American History. Notables such as J. Dutton Steele who played an important role in the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge, and the founders of the prestigious Hill School in Pottstown, all rest here now. Over time, Edgewood fell into disrepair, and its ground burial options limited by the built environment that now surround the property. Like the Auburn Mausoleum, the Madden Company assumed the management and operation of the property implementing a new and extensive Master Plan and Vision. The goal is to also return the beauty of Edgewood lost to time and the elements, and to devise an integrated use of the property by creating what the Madden Company calls a “Neighbortery”. Historic interpretational programming, a website, and unique partnerships with surrounding institutions and residents hopes to make Edgewood a model of cemetery revitalization. .
